Steam Architecture Improvements

Steam handling has been made more platform-aware.

Steam runtime discovery now distinguishes Windows, macOS and Linux runtime libraries.

The release tooling can also inspect installed Steamworks SDK binaries before attempting native ARM64 Steam builds.

ARM64 Steam packages are only attempted when a matching native Steam API binary is actually available. HyperION does not reuse an x64 Steam API binary inside an ARM64 process.

Steam builds continue to bundle the required verified stem-separation model and disable unsupported post-install model-download behavior where required by the distribution configuration.

Pattern View & Popup Workflow

Pattern View received another interaction and stability pass.

Changes include:

MIDI Output lanes no longer use normal left-click as an accidental context-menu trigger.

MIDI Port and routing result handling were corrected.

Context menus are anchored to their relevant UI regions instead of being spawned directly underneath the mouse pointer.

Context-menu opening was moved away from the initial mouse-down path.

Very large multi-level generator/style menus were removed from the Pattern workflow.

Generator parameters stay inside their actual generator interfaces.

MIDI routing selections use simpler sequential menus rather than deep hover-driven submenu trees.

Popup callbacks use safer component lifetime handling.

Popup-related Pattern repaint activity has been reduced.

Windows popup polling was reduced to avoid unnecessary hover/focus churn.

These changes are intended to reduce popup flicker and prevent menus from interfering with unrelated Pattern controls.

Pattern Playback

Pattern playback received additional loop-boundary work.

A short continuity/de-click transition is applied at natural Pattern loop boundaries to reduce clicks or pops caused by sudden sample discontinuities.

The solution is designed to avoid resetting voices or changing musical timing at every loop.

Additional Pattern scheduling and voice regression coverage remains part of the release validation process.

Control Room

The Control Room signal and display path received additional cleanup.

Phones and Main controls remain monitor-gain controls, while their level meters are separated from knob position and driven from live audio-level data.

The Control Room meter path now supports:

Live stereo audio level data.

Fast attack behavior.

Controlled meter release.

Meter activity during preview and audio tails even when transport is stopped.

Small-region meter repainting instead of unnecessary full-panel redraws.

This makes the Control Room display behave like an audio meter instead of a visual representation of the gain knob.

1.1.4.0 continues the native JUCE interface work started in earlier releases.

HyperION 1.1.3.0 is a major composition, sound-library, workflow, and stability update built on the 1.1.2.0 release. It expands Demo Song into a more reliable full-project composer, introduces more musical genre-aware drum generation, adds an integrated Freesound browser, improves MPE and automation workflows, upgrades Chain Generator, and strengthens playback, packaging, localization, and update delivery. This release also completes a broad native JUCE UI refactor across the active DAW shell, editors, dialogs, menus, inspectors, and stock plug-ins. The refactor preserves project formats, DSP, audio/MIDI behavior, licensing, entitlement paths, plug-in parameters, presets, and automation while applying one restrained semantic design system throughout the application. Highlights Demo Song can now create complete multi-track arrangements with coordinated drums, bass, chords, melody, counter melody, arpeggios, pads, FX, and Vocal Guide parts.

Generated Step Sequencer patterns are now visible in the correct Pattern slot and connected to audible playback.

Freesound Browser

Added a dedicated resizable Freesound Browser under the Tools menu and Command Palette.

Users can create a free personal Freesound API key once and store it encrypted with Windows DPAPI; the key is never written to project metadata or plain-text settings.

Added text search, BPM range filtering, musical key/mode filtering, license filtering, relevance/download/rating/newest sorting, and paginated results.

Results show creator, license, duration, BPM, detected tonality, sample rate, channels, rating, download count, and tags.

Added Play and Stop controls with background download, local preview caching, off-thread decode, and direct HyperION engine audition.

Added + Add to copy the selected HQ MP3 preview into Media/Freesound, create a new audio track at the playhead, and save a.freesound.json attribution/provenance sidecar.

Added quick access to the original Freesound sound page for license review and attribution.

Freesound token authentication provides search and HQ preview access. Original-quality API downloads require Freesound OAuth2, so this release imports the official HQ MP3 preview and labels that behavior in the interface.

Demo Song Composer

Fixed generation modes that could produce only three tracks or an empty project when playable roles were selected.

MIDI Tracks, Pattern + MIDI, and Full Project modes now honor every selected musical role independently of the old Create MIDI Clips toggle.

The Generate button now uses the mode selected in the dialog instead of always falling back to New Project.

Demo Song now remembers preset, genre, BPM, key, scale, song length, section length, complexity, energy, output mode, generation mode, density, variation, fill amount, role toggles, Pattern/MIDI/audio choices, and loop settings.

New Project generation resets the Pattern state safely and opens the generated drums in the visible Pattern slot.

Added automatic loop-region creation based on the complete generated arrangement.

Instrument, effect-chain, preset, and sample-map failures are now isolated so one unavailable component does not erase the rest of the generated song.

Added role-aware instrument fallback selection when the preferred preset is unavailable.

Sample-map readiness waits are shorter and non-fatal.

Generated drum patterns create a real Arrangement clip and remain editable in the Step Sequencer.

Opening a Pattern clip from Arrangement now selects that clip's actual pattern://N slot before opening the editor.

Fixed generated Step Sequencer velocities using a 0..1 range where the engine expected 1..127, which made drums effectively inaudible.

Generated Pattern buffers are explicitly connected to the audio engine after rendering.

Songwriting And Harmony

Bass, chords, lead, arpeggios, pads, and section transitions now follow one shared song-wide chord progression.

Chord progressions no longer restart independently at each section boundary.

Bass notes follow the active chord root while retaining genre-specific rhythms and octave responses.

Lead phrases resolve toward chord tones on strong beats and use controlled passing tones between them.

Arpeggios are anchored to the active harmony.

Section-end approach notes target the actual next chord.

Different section lengths, including non-four-bar sections, remain aligned to the global harmonic timeline.

Generation density and complexity now influence musical detail independently instead of making every energetic style excessively busy.

Genre-Aware Drums

Added deterministic genre-aware kit selection: the same seed selects the same sample variants.

Rap, Trap, Drill, club, and modern electronic styles use Libre Sample Pack kicks, snares, hats, claps, percussion, and 808s.

Pop, Rock, and acoustic styles use more natural Klassic kick/snare choices with appropriate hats and percussion.

Cinematic styles use VSCO-2-CE bass drum, orchestral snare, cymbal, tambourine, and percussion sources.

Reggaeton now uses a dedicated dembow kick and backbeat structure instead of a generic Rap/Trap pattern.

Added Reggaeton conga lanes backed by real VSCO Tumba samples.

Rap and Trap 808 drum accents now load real Libre clean/fat 808 samples; they no longer fall through to a generic perc sound.

Rock, Metal, Nu Metal, Trap Metal, and suitable cinematic fills can create Tom Low, Tom Mid, and Tom High lanes.

Tom lanes now use a real tom source with pitch-separated mid and high variants.

Missing drum samples use an explicit internal fallback voice instead of becoming silent metadata.

Added per-bar hit budgets for kick, snare/clap, hats, percussion, and auxiliary voices.

Reduced excessive ghost-note, fill, variation, and roll stacking.

Reworked Vocal Guide into a more controlled monophonic reference melody.

Uses a medium tessitura with fewer extreme jumps and lower note density.

Replaced exaggerated scoop and vibrato behavior with neutral pressure expression.

Vocal Guide now uses a neutral Melody Lead playback path rather than the ambiguous open-vowel effect sample.

MIDI channel 10 remains reserved for drums.

Pitch wheel, pressure, CC74, and configured expression targets reset safely at note end.

Advanced Generation can create note expression and track automation in Piano Roll, Step Generator, Demo Song Composer, Chain Generator, and Create Backing Track workflows.

Pattern, Arrangement, and MIDI conversion paths preserve MPE and expression data.

Standard generation remains lightweight and does not emit advanced expression unless requested.

AI Tools And Editions

Stem Separation and Track to MIDI can use the shared AI/generator credit balance in Demo and Standard editions.

Removed incorrect Ultimate-only locks from credit-backed audio-clip commands.

Command Palette entries now open eligible credit-backed generators correctly.

Native Windows ARM64 Steam builds are not included because the configured Steamworks SDK does not provide a Windows ARM64 Steam API library. Native ARM64 remains available for standalone and Microsoft Store packages. The separate Steam Demo x64 artifact is retained for SteamPipe testing, while the combined installer payload contains the supported non-Steam architectures and Steam x64 payload.

Verification

PatternLaneVoiceTests: passed on the latest x64 code.

Pattern tests cover audible rendered output and active sample/internal voice sources.

Demo Song regression coverage includes visible Step Sequencer data, correct velocity scale, Pattern-to-engine buffer connection, genre kit selection, real tom lanes, real 808 accents, Reggaeton percussion, and Arabesk defaults.

Localization validation passed for 31 languages and 7,365 merged keys per language.

The multi-architecture release assembler produced validated x64/ARM64 manifests with 9,580 entries each and a final SHA-256 file list.

Upgrade Note

Projects or Demo Songs generated by an older build keep their existing Pattern and sample assignments. Regenerate the Demo Song with 1.1.3.0 to receive the new drum mappings, 808s, toms, Reggaeton groove, Arabesk behavior, Vocal Guide, and Pattern playback fixes.

Steam Review Notes

The Steam build does not expose Patreon, donation, external checkout, virtual currency, credit-pack purchases, or active Steam MicroTransactions.

Optional user-configured external AI providers are disclosed separately at https://hyperiondaw.com/ai-providers. Provider accounts, API keys, quotas, subscriptions, and charges are managed directly by the user and provider; the core DAW does not require them.

Steam MicroTransactions remain disabled in this release pending a separate production Steam Wallet test and GetReport evidence submission.

HyperION DAW 1.1.2.0 brings stability fixes for core arrangement workflows, stock plugin identity compatibility, and recording preview behavior. This release focuses on eliminating duplicate/paste regressions and improving consistency during undo/redo and transport loop conditions. Highlights Core Fixes Fixed a duplicate/copy-paste issue where HyperReverb chain and preset operations could fail due to URI inconsistency between registry and runtime.

Added backward-compatible support so older projects using the legacy hyperion-stock-effect://hyperverb identifier continue to load correctly.

Fixed arrangement clip duplication logic to preserve relative spacing of selected groups and avoid overlapping on target tracks.

Centralized the application version and synchronized CMake, build metadata, FileVersion, and ProductVersion at 1.0.1.

Kept JUCE and the application core statically linked instead of adding unnecessary runtime DLL dependencies.

Produced and verified a clean Windows Release build containing both the main DAW and standalone plug-in scanner.

Produced a new Windows installer containing the complete official and CC0 sample libraries.

Fixed

Pattern playback and VST processing

Fixed the selected Pattern being forced into playback while Song mode was playing other Arrangement Patterns.

Fixed multiple Patterns sharing and repeatedly processing the same VST instance in one audio block.

MIDI from Patterns sharing a VST is now merged before the VST is processed once per block.

Fixed one Pattern stopping or muting the VST sound of another active Pattern.

Fixed Pattern note ownership collisions caused by identical lane/note indexes across different Patterns.

Fixed Pattern changes overwriting other Patterns' lane, mixer, and VST state.

Fixed Step Sequencer VST on/off state not affecting the actual audio path.

Fixed stopped-transport pad, step, Piano Roll, and plug-in keyboard preview.

Fixed old VST preview notes causing unrelated slots to sound while editing a step.

Fixed stopped-preview audio being cleared by the MixerGraph before reaching the output.

MIDI scheduling and note integrity

Fixed Arrangement MIDI events leaking beyond visible clip boundaries.

Long notes now receive a source-selective note-off at the clip end.

Fixed Arrangement and Pattern schedulers competing for the same instrument in Pattern mode.

Added source-aware ownership for Arrangement, Pattern, Piano Roll preview, Step preview, external/live, and plug-in UI notes.

Transport stop now releases playback voices without killing held live-preview notes.

Fixed same-note note-on/note-off ordering at boundaries between multiple MIDI clips on one Instrument Track.

Fixed clip Event FX causing long MIDI notes to retrigger on every audio block.

Fixed track VST processing being repeated for every Event FX clip and tail.

Fixed generator commands clearing entire MIDI clips instead of their intended ranges.

Stability and performance

Removed automatic large crash-dump generation because dump files could consume excessive disk space.

HyperION now writes diagnostics to a single lightweight Documents/HYPERION/Logs/log.txt file, capped to approximately 512 KB at startup.

Crash logs retain the exception code and description, fault address, module, RVA, thread, and available stack information. Exception 0xC0000374 is identified explicitly as Heap Corruption.

Added a per-user Windows Error Reporting exclusion for HyperION and the standalone scanner so new full memory dumps are not generated by WER.

Added entry- and byte-limited LRU eviction to the sample cache.

Moved sample decoding outside the cache lock to reduce blocking.

Fixed AI job and callback lifetime retention after terminal states.

Reduced excessive AI progress snapshot churn.

Improved realtime-safe state transfer and allocation behavior in PhaseFlow.

Validation

Windows Release build completed successfully with JUCE 8.

Full automated suite: 19/19 tests passed at the main stability checkpoint.

Final post-hardening acceptance run: 38 passed, 0 failed.

Repeated post-fix Release builds and PatternLaneVoiceTests runs passed.

AIMusicGenerationTests passed.

PhaseFlowTests passed across 44.1/48/96/192 kHz, mono/stereo, and 1–2048 sample block sizes.

VocalSculptorTests: 1,474 checks passed.

HyperMasterLabTests: 736 checks passed.

HyperION Instrument Suite audit: 109 factory presets passed.

Sample and Pattern regression tests passed with the immutable library snapshot implementation.

Standalone scanner launch and isolated worker mode were verified.

Main DAW startup remained stable during the initial background library scan.

Both Hyperion.exe and Hyperion Plugin Scanner.exe report version 1.0.1.

The new multi-resolution icon was verified from the built executable.

Known Notes

Representative third-party VSTs, including plug-ins with custom offline-render or licensing behavior, still require manual compatibility testing.

A 30–60 minute real-world GUI/VST soak test remains recommended.

ETA may fluctuate during very short renders.

Existing compiler warnings from deprecated JUCE APIs and numeric conversions remain, but no new build failures were introduced by this release.
